"But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars."

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Welcome!

We all want to live in peace with ourselves and the people around us. We want to live an abundant life where we can face life challenges with confidence and overcome adversity. If you feel stuck, afraid and alone, you have come to the right place. At Hope Haven, we walk with you every step of the way. You are not alone on this journey of healing. In fact, you were never meant to. We all struggle at times feeling overwhelmed and lonely.

These are issues that people often bring to therapy:

  • “I feel stuck and can’t seem to get ahead.”

  • “My husband and I often argue over parenting our children.”

  • “Our family can’t seem to get along.”

  • “My spouse and I have intimacy issues.”

  • “I have difficulty in my relationships.”

  • “I often feel anxious and overwhelmed.”

  • “I struggle with being organized.”

  • “I experience problems at work and at school.”

  • “I likely drink too often or too much alcohol (or other substances).”

  • “My eating habits are a problem.”

  • “I need to talk about… (fill in the blank).”

  • “I recently have lost my (fill in the blank…), and I struggle with grief.”

  • “I struggle with parenting my child who has been diagnosed with ADHD and Autism.”

  • “My teenager is self-harming and, I feel scared.”

If you are struggling with any of these issues, therapy can help you move forward. We work to understand what is important to you. That’s our job — to help you navigate life and its challenges — and help you move forward. We promise to listen to you and help you find a path to healing and restoration.

We offer services in person, and online. Our secure platform makes it possible to connect with us at your convenience. We understand that you may be busy and online services might be a better option.

I include Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), Mindfulness, Strengths-based, Solution focused and others.

We strive to make it as easy as possible to get you started and on your way.

Our Services

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is not simply going for a walk or having coffee with a friend. It is not coaching, and we do not prescribe medications. It is a talk therapy, where the therapist listens to your concerns and challenges from a clinical point of view and use evidence-based approach — supported by research — I dig down to find the place inside you where we can help you to ease the pain and help you thrive in your relationships.

We focus on where you need help — to find relief and get to where you want to be.

Couples Therapy

Your intimate partner relationship could be the highest source of life’s highest joy and yet the deepest pain. Suppose you are struggling to connect with your spouse or partner. In that case, our Couples Therapy can help you develop a deep understanding of your cycle using EFT (Emotional Focused Therapy), where you examine the source of your conflict and address issues such as infidelity/trust sex, family planning and more.

We can also help you in areas such as coping with loneliness after a breakup and navigating separation and/or divorce.

Let us know how we can help. We promise to listen to your relationship issues and help you navigate these difficult times in your life.

Family Therapy

Family is what matters the most. We find refuge and comfort at home where we feel safe, and can relax, laugh, and talk about our day.

However, whether in the early, middle, or later stages — there are many threats to a satisfying family life.

Many families feel that anger and resentment have taken over their daily interactions. They find it difficult to communicate their wants and their needs effectively, hence leading to many arguments and/or disconnection.

Here is a list of common problems that families experience:

  • Conflict between parent and child or between siblings.
  • Behavioural issues and academic concerns in children and adolescents.
  • Parenting issues (e.g. gaining confidence, different parenting styles, co-parenting issues.)
  • Child/youth anxiety and depression — and how to support your child.
  • Family strain due to expectations around culture, religion, or lifestyle.
  • Financial and other stressors due to loss of job, moving, aging, or trauma.
  • Adjusting to a change in family structure (e.g. separation, divorce, blended family)

At Hope Haven, we meet with many families who would like to improve their communication, learn to negotiate rules and expectations and build resiliency and strength within their families.

We encourage you to take the first step. This could be the beginning of something wonderful.

Individual Therapy

Hope is seeing light despite being surrounded by darkness. We all face life challenges where we feel that what we do is not enough. You may be dealing with life stressors, relationship issues, or coping with anxiety. Many added stressors such as navigating dating and social life and managing family and cultural expectations can lead to burn out.

At Hope Haven, our approach is client-centered and collaborative. Here are some of the issues our clients have shared with us:

  • Time management
  • Anger management
  • Coping with anxiety and panic attacks
  • Social anxiety
  • Grief and loss
  • Depression
  • Communication skills

We believe that a better understanding of oneself can lead to healthier and wholesome relationships with others. We promise to listen to you and help you find a way forward.

Who We Are

Meet Samira Gebhardt

I love people! I am both an extrovert and a homebody. I enjoy music and taking a stroll near a body of water. My favourite day consists of playing games with family and friends or snuggling my dog in front of the fireplace with a good book and a cup of tea. I really look forward to working with you!

I am committed to providing authentic, compassionate, and insightful support as I journey with the client through anger, grief, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem and confidence, burnout and a variety of other life stressors.
I have had the immense privilege of working with individuals, couples and families, meeting them where they are, and joining them on their journey toward health.

I have a passion for creating a safe space for my client to process through their past and present challenges. I use a variety of counselling models and techniques to meet the client’s unique needs and welcome feedback along the way to make sure it works for them. I specifically pull from emotionally focused approaches for couples (EFCT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness.

I believe that it is incredibly important to find the right fit for both the therapist and the client. I offer a free 20 minute consultation to help you find out whether I am the right therapist for you.
